iciHaiti - Economy : The peasants worried about the rising of food products
Earlier this week, of associations and cooperatives of growers across the country, called for technical and financial support to the Ministry of Agriculture to fight against competition from imported food products that are cheaper than products grown in Haiti.

They point out that the price of local food products have experienced this year an increase of 20% compared to 2015, while at the same time the prices of imported food increased only by 9%.

A growers Federation in the Artibonite proposes to the Ministry, an increase of 15% of tax on imported rice to finance agricultural infrastructure and strengthen national production.
