iciHaiti - Diaspora : Annual Fund Raising of Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti
Saturday, Lesly Condé, the Consul General of Haiti in Chicago participated to the invitation of the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti to the 10th Annual Fundraising Gala of the Congress. During this event, the Consul Condé took the opportunity to saluting the memory of Mrs. Nicole Smith and that of the Reverend Pastors Luckner Descorbeth and Joseph Dieudonné, three important compatriots who recently passed away, before declared :

"[...] This decade spent at the service of Haiti and all its citizens, has already earned a very respectable place for the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti in the heart of our Community. Today, we bring our concrete proof of approval and strong solidarity to those ten years of courageous efforts and strong representation. The Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti collaborates with all the other organizations. This is in keeping with its important vocation which is to facilitate the participation of every Haitian in the development of Haiti. Therein lies one of this organization's greatest merits, because a well-organized Haitian Diaspora has an important part to play in Haiti's future [...]"

Moreover Lesly Condé recalled "the amendment of the 1987 Constitution which allows Haitians who have adopted another nationality, and persons born abroad of a Haitian father or mother, to recover their Haitian Nationality by following a procedure through which the Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago will be pleased to accompany them [...]"
