iciHaiti - Insecurity : The population of Savanette living in fear

According to the findings of the Repatriated and Refugees Support Group (GAAR) from January 2016 to Friday 11 March, 15 warehouses of goods were looted in Savanette, a border town of the Centre department of about 41,000 people.

Since the proliferation of acts of theft and a climate of insecurity which is increasing day by day, psychosis of fear installs in the minds of Savanettiens, who launch a cry of alarm to the authorities concerned to undertake urgent measures against those individuals who loot and ransom the population "We live in fear against the rise of insecurity acts in the city. In the evening, we have to stay awake to avoid being victim of thieves. Because the 4 police officers of the commune are powerless to repel the bandits," said a resident.

Meanwhile, other merchants executing transactions on the border Cañada / Miguel, of Savanette, are also robbed by thieves. Other times, gunmen forced the bus driver to stop on the road so they can seize the goods and passengers' money.
