iciHaiti - Education : Call for a national education plan advocating gender equity
On the occasion of International Women's Day, this Tuesday March 8 "Foi et Joie Haïti" a movement of integral popular education and social promotion, involving 17 public schools and a vocational training center, calls for a national education plan that takes into account gender equity.

"Foi et Joie Haïti" reminds that today the country works with a 50th legislature where no women are present so far (7 women candidates still in the race for the second round). This situation intervenes while in March 2015, a "national gender equality policy" was adopted. In addition, the current Constitution requires compliance with a quota of 30% women in all sectors of national life "The case of Parliament is symbolic and demonstrates the depth of the challenges and issues surrounding equity in our society."

Build an egalitarian society with equal opportunity for girls and boys, involves passing through education. We need a national education plan to address the issue of parity from childhood with emphasis on teacher training. This is even more essential than in Haiti, drop out of school is more frequent in girls than in boys.
