iciHaiti - FLASH : Border security strengthened, CESFRONT and the Minustah are coordinating
Friday, the CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza Terrestre) strengthen security at the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. In the afternoon the CESFRONT deployed at different strategic points of helicopters that will act when necessary as reaction force, face to any situation created by the political crisis in Haiti. The Dominican Ministry of Defence has deployed nearly 2,500 men at the border as a preventive force. Among the other preventive measures, the CESFRONT doubled the border guard posts and increased patrols and actions of the intelligence agency, to collect relevant information on time.

Friday morning Carlos Aguirre, the Director of CESFRONT met Ajax Porto Pinheiro, the Commander of the Minisutah in Haiti. For nearly two hours, coordination mechanisms have been established between the two security forces "More than anything, it was an opportunity to know us," said the Commander of Minustah adding "there is no political conflict, but threats [...] The protests are today what they were before the elections. Every day there are pro and anti-government demonstrations, this is normal and it is a reflection of the political situation."
