iciHaiti - Health : New outbreaks of cholera, 16 communes in Red Alert
At the last meeting of the High Level Committee on the Elimination of Cholera in Haiti, Dr. Florence Duperval Guillaume, Minister of Health emphasized that "The strong reactivity of Rapid Intervention Teams Mobile (EMIRA) have among other enabled during the months most at risk of the rainy season in October and November to reduce the number of cases to the lowest level of these periods since the beginning of the cholera epidemic in Haiti."

Still, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO / WHO), in its status report alerts from 18 to 29 October, had reported that more than 400 alerts have been recorded and some fifteen communes are on red alert https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14861-haiti-health-important-and-alarming-cholera-outbreaks.html

Furthermore in November 2015, 4,964 cases have been reported and 4,303 hospitalized. From 1 to 12 December 2015, new cholera outbreaks were identified. 16 communes of Artibonite, Southeast, North, Northwest and West are on red alert.

The overall mortality rate was 1.58%, while the mortality rate in hospital is estimated at 1.65%.
