iciHaiti - Health : Towards an access to medical care for all
Dr. Georges Dubuche Director General of the Ministry of Public Health and Population has presented the new organizational model of health care in Haiti aimed at 100% of the population, to have access to quality health care. The implementation costs of this model will equires an estimated budget of just over $250 million for the next five years.

He explained that this new organizational model of health care, which was presented to international donors, provides 182 Family Health Units (USF) throughout the country, which will include a general practitioner, two nurses, four nursing assistants and 60 Community Health Agents Versatile "This model wants to reach a ratio of one agent for 1,000 inhabitants instead of the current ratio of one agent for 2,500 inhabitants." Furthermore, within the framework of the implementation of this model, the Ministry of Public Health has already constructed or rehabilitated over the past four years, over 250 health institutions.

A total of 364 nurses, 728 nursing auxiliaries and 10,920 multipurpose community health workers will be enrolled (3,754 community health workers are already deployed).

The USF will provide preventive and curative care among others: maternal and child care, reproductive health, nutrition promotion and education on good health practices, sanitation and vaccination.
