iciHaiti - Social : The Lucienne Deschamps Foundation awards its 2015 Humanitarian Award
For its 6th Editions Lucienne Deschamps Foundation awarded the "Humanitarian Award Lucienne Deschamps 2015" to 3 institutions and a personality who, in their respective scope of intervention had a significant impact on the community. The recipients of this award are: the Congregations of the Salesians and Salesian of Don Bosco, Young Women's Christian Association YWCA Haiti and Dr. Henri Ford.



Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco:
The Salesian Fathers run 9 vocational training centers in five departments. The educational offer of Salesian fathers comprise basic education (fundamental level), secondary education (professional level) and university education (technical level). The vocational school St. Bosco of the work of the Little Schools of Father Bonhen offers technical and vocational training in two years in ten sectors.




Congregation of Don Bosco Salesian (FMA) :
The sisters are present in education through, among others: 8 pre-schools, 13 primary (complete basic cycle), 3 high schools reaching the graduating class, a normal school double-shift, 3 vocational schools first level, 7 centers of young of professional nature, 5 centers for literacy and social promotion, 6 internships or homes.



Young Women’s Christian Association (YMCA) :
Young Women’s Christian Association (YMCA) in its "leadership academy" Centre for young women 18 to 30 years, develops the leadership of women and girls so that they have the power to make positive changes in their lives, their communities and their country. YMCA has granted scholarships to young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. In addition, the YMCA trains approximately 240 girls per year on topics such as the environment, entrepreneurship and sexual and reproductive health and supports 220 young women into the labor market.



Dr Henri Ford :
Dr. Henri Ford lives in the US, and has treated several victims of the earthquake in January 2010. On May 22, 2015, under his leadership, Siamese baby underwent surgery at the University Hospital of Mirebalais. While making career in the United States, Dr. Ford has never forgotten his native Haiti.
