iciHaiti - Diaspora : Money transfer fees exorbitant, from Canada and DR to Haiti
In its annual report "Migration and Development Brief" the World Bank (WB) indicates that remittances from the Haitian diaspora to their country of origin should increase by more than 2% in 2015 to reach 1,997 billion US dollars (21% of GDP of Haiti), after having reached 1.954 billion dollars in 2014.

Concerning the total average cost to send money, it remained broadly 8% (Q4 2014). However, the report emphasizes that in many corridors of remittances, transfer fees continue to be very high, citing as examples the cost of sending money Canada-Haiti and the Dominican Republic-Haiti that exceeds 12 %, ranking among the highest fees in the world.
