iciHaiti - Economy : Closure of the border of Ouanaminthe 20/11/2015 11:09:03 On Thursday morning, dozens of Haitian merchants, prevented the entrance of a large amount of cement from the Dominican Republic by blocking with chains and padlocks unilaterally the Ouanaminthe border in the north-east of Haiti. Also was placed a truck through the road, preventing the entry of vehicles and carts loaded with cement. On the Haitian side were present of Haitian authorities of customs, immigration and police contingent sent from Port-au-Prince, to enforce this measure. According to authorities, the measure is to comply with the disposal of the Haitian government, which declared a ban on entry into the country of 23 products from the Dominican Republic that could no longer be imported by road but only by sea or air (excluding cement).
