iciHaiti - Culture : The National Directorate of Book celebrates its 10 years

Wednesday at the Karibe Hotel, the National Directorate of the Book (DNL) celebrated at a gala evening, its ten years of existence on the theme "A Decade to promote the book and reading."
"Created by Decree 28 October 2005, and always today, the National Directorate of Books is proud not to fail in its mission which is to proceed mainly to the implementation of the national policy regarding book, considered in its multiple dimensions: spiritual, educational, cultural and economic," recaleld Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture during this celebration, reiterating her commitment to support the DNL in its steps such as :
- The promotion of public reading throughout the national territory;
- Support for cultural, non-public institutional and private operators working in the field of books and public reading;
- The promotion of of literary creation and cultural production within the network;
- The development of cooperation with other countries in the field of books and reading;
- The promotion of technician training programs and Haitian professionals in various trades of the book;
- The establishment of the regulatory framework and of management of libraries and reading centers;
- Promoting Haitian book on international markets.
