Monday, at the invitation of the Institute George W. Bush, the First, Sophia Martelly participated in Dallas, Texas https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15207-haiti-politic-sophia-martelly-in-dallas-texas.html at the launching of high-level summit Global Women Network/Women Initiative.

During the first day, Ms. Martelly had the opportunity to meet with various partners working in development. She took the opportunity to make a plea for women's empowerment and maternal and child health.

She participated in a panel discussion with representatives of Mary's Meal, Convoy of Hope, Kate Spade and Co, Root Capital, in which she declared "Here in Haiti, it is said that women are the 'poto mitan', what can be translated as backbone and if you ever have the opportunity to visit Haiti, what I strongly hope, this aspect will certainly get your attention. The dynamism of women on which is based the economy of our country is extraordinary !"
