Haiti currently has less than 300 fire fighters for the entire country. Additionally, Haiti has 10 Emergency Operations Centers (EOC’s) which were built by U.S. Southern Command in an effort to enhance the countries disaster response operations led by the Directorate for Civil Protection (DPC).

Recently, the Louisiana National Guard (LANG) hosted at St.Tammany Fire Training Academy a Hazardous Material Subject Matter Expert Exchange with six members of the Government of Haiti to provide a professional forum to discuss information and best practices on handling Hazardous Material (HAZMAT). The six Haitan members are Commissar Municipal (CM) Jean Yves Rocher, Inspector Gedeon Brunel, Inspector Esau Joseph, Communications Director Delince Morancy, Commissar Jeancius Vilnor, and Assistant Director Bentz Augustine.
