iciHaïti - Social : Conference «Haiti - Dominican Republic, looks on an announced crisis»
Thursday, July 23 at 5:00 pm at the Fondation Connaissance et Liberté (FOKAL) 143 Avenue Christophe, former consul and ambassador of Haiti in Dominican Republic Edwin Parison (Zile Foundation), writer Edwidge Danticat and Emmanuela Pierre will shed light on the crisis between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. To introduce this conference, Dumas Maçon and Pierre-Michel Jean, two young Haitian reporters, one editor, one photographer, returning from a 15-day report in the Dominican Republic, will briefly present their report at the conference and testify of discoveries but also of the difficulties they have had to do this job and have today, through experience, a better understanding of the situation.

Speakers at the conference, then will discuss the background of the crisis, diplomatic management, legislative and administrative, anti-Haitian discourse in the Dominican Republic, the fundamental problems of the National Plan of Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) launched in June 2014 by the Dominican authorities and the fiasco of Identification Program and Documentation of Haitian immigrants (PIDIH) established by the Haitian authorities.

They will then discuss the humanitarian crisis that looks and the problem of statelessness, to conclude with recommendations on actions to be considered.
