The President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) MA Ying-Jeou left Taipei on Saturday for a tour of 8 days in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Nicaragua. Arrived Sunday in Santo Domingo after a stop in Boston in the United States.
In response to a question from a Taiwanese journalists who accompany him in his tour, on whether he can play the role of mediator in the migration crisis between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, he replied that his Government "is willing to help" bot Nation of the island to resolve their immigration disputes "within the scope of Taiwan's abilities."
He later confirmed to these same journalists that he intended to address the immigration issue in bilateral talks with the leaders of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, two allies of Taiwan.
