Haiti - Elections : Financing of political parties, the Government drags feet...
While the electoral campaign for the legislative elections of 9 August 2015, started since Thursday, Prime Minister Evans Paul says that the 500 million gourdes for the financing of approved political entities for their campaign are available, but he explains to justify that no gourde has yet been disbursed, that must be find "the right formula for distributing the money," explaining that he has formed a commission that is working on this.

One can only be surprised and satisfied with this explanation, while the Electoral Decree in Article 126 clearly explains how this grant is to be awarded "The amount of the grant to be awarded to parties and political groups concerned, depending on the number of approved candidates, will be determined by the Provisional Electoral Council, according to the budget allocated for this purpose by the state."

Although Prime Minister Paul recognized the urgency of taking a decision (the campaign only lasts 30 days and for many, this grant is vital), one can only wonder why the executive interferes in a responsibility of the Electoral Council provisional (CEP) and what is its interest to procrastinate on the disbursement of the grant...?
