Monday the eneral Directorate of Migration (DGM) has delivered 300 cards of permanent residence to the sugarcane pensioners. With these 300 new beneficiaries, they are 734 Haitians in the sector, to have already obtained the document certifying that they are now legal residents in the Dominican Republic, out a total of 2,709, entitled to obtain this precious document https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-14376-icihaiti-social-2-709-sugar-cane-cutters-will-receive-their-permanent-residence.html

Monday a hundred cane workers, were transferred to the municipality of Haina, where there is a Reception Centre. The trade unionist Jesus Nunez Cañeros Spokesperson and Coordinator of the Union of sugarcane workers in the bateyes said that so far the process was proceeding normally. Sugarcane workers, who received their permanent resident card, were visibly happy, because their presence in the Dominican Republic is now legal.
