iciHaiti - Culture : Did you know? 16/06/2015 12:34:00 Colored arrows represent the Caribbean sunrise, and expresses the colorful summer festivities. The fifteen member countries are represented by stars of different colors to highlight the cultural and ethnic diversity. The blue middle star represents the host country Haiti. Le Marron Inconnu (The Unknown Slave) a symbol of our fight for freedom. The « Lambi » (conch shell) is a historical instrument of calling, rallying and gathering. It illustrates communication. The Haitian government will spend 300 million gourdes to organize this grand festival which will host from August 14 to 23, nearly 2,500 participants (artists and officials) from 19 countries of the region. Remember that this Festival will take place in the month of August, in the cities of Port-au-Prince, Cap Haitien, Les Cayes, Gonaives and Jacmel on the theme "Our roots, our culture and our common future".
