iciHaiti - Economy : France talks about chocolate with Haiti 03/06/2015 10:39:08
The French Deputy Patrick Devedjian, President of the Hauts-de-Seine, led a large delegation to Haiti from 1 to 5 June 2015. This mission accompanied by the Embassy of France aims to take stock and draw the prospects of the support of the Hauts de Seine department to the cocoa sector in the North Department.
Organized by the program operator, the NGO Agronomists and Veterinarians Without Borders (AVSF), the mission of which a significant part is devoted to field visits, also aims to organize exchanges between chocolatiers of Hauts de Seine and cocoa producers in Haiti to improve the consistency and quality of production.
Recall that since 2009, the Department of Hauts-de-Seine supports to the tune of 900,000 euros the development of the cocoa sector in Haiti. 2,500 families, or about 12,000 people, are concerned by this program to support the cocoa sector in Haiti.
