iciHaiti - Education : Nesmy Manigat denounces the wastage in the education sector 25/05/2015 12:35:37
Last week, at the World Education Forum, which was held in Incheon (Republic of Korea), Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education during his intervention during the panel on the financing of education declared when talking about Haiti "There is so much waste in this system [...] that as long as we will not manage to reform the education system, to eliminate unnecessary expenses, we will not progress [...] when the Haitian government and donors on behalf of the State, spending money for subsidies to private schools that do not deserve it; for teachers who are not in the classroom... If we can reduce this waste, we can do twice what was already done," adding "It is not a position against good private schools, but for free compulsory education for the first nine years, through the strengthening of public schools."
In addition, the Minister Manigat lamented "We also have too much instability in steering the education system in Haiti [...] 33 ministers in 33 years, this pulls its weight in the drift that we observe today [...] there is no monitoring."
