Dr. Serge Philippe Pierre, author of "Power, manipulation, and reproduction of power : a semio narrative analysis of François Duvalier's speech" (Pouvoir, manipulation et reproduction du pouvoir : une analyse semio narrative du discours de François Duvalier) will proceed to the sale signing of his book Thursday, May 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Moca Café (Miami), Friday, May 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. at the Consulate of Haiti in Orlando and Sunday, May 10 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm to Christéphanise (Pompano Beach).
This book discusses on how Duvalier established his discursive strategies that enabled him to establish the significance of the events, to shape the interpretation and articulate it according to its own interests. How the storytelling of events in his speech contributes to give meaning and legitimacy to his authority ? What are the reports and political challenges between power and discourse ?
