Shipwreck in the Northwest
The Civil Protection Directorate just informed us that Friday night in the Northwest, a boat connecting the Turtle Island to Saint-Louis du Nord was shipwrecked. Twenty people were rescued, 6 people are still missing despite search operations of marine rescuers and of Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH). The lifeless body of a woman was found.

Project for two new historical monuments
Sunday Evans Paul declared "we need to create a historical monument in Bois Caïman and also erect a monument, a statue showing the Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines standing at the Pont Rouge."

Buses Dignité in operation despite the strike
Castro Arboite, Executive Director of the Compagnie Dignité announced that the buses Dignité will be present very early this Monday morning on the different circuits in the capital and provincial cities to transport school children. The Company emphasizes that it is not affected by the call to strike launched by some drivers unions and political parties. Houses of democracy in Haiti ?
This weekend on the occasion of the administrative retreat of the Primature, Prime Minister Evans Paul said he wanted to initiate during his time in office, houses of democracy. The latter will be for political parties, at their services, meeting space and logistics. It also intends to create a home of friendship Haiti-Cuba-Venezuela, a fair of the Youth and initiate a Carnival Museum and of cultural traditions.

Internal migration and environmental degradation
A team of the project "Migration, Environment and Climate Change: data for policy" (MECLEP) is in Haiti for a workshop with the team of Data Management of the International Organization for Migration (IOM-Haiti). The objective of this workshop is to develop a questionnaire that will allow to better understand the link between internal migration and environmental degradation in Haiti.
