Inauguration of a iodized salt factory On Monday, the First Lady of the Republic, Sophia Martelly participated alongside Dr. Florence Guillaume, Minister of Public Health, at the inauguration of a iodized salt factory in Delmas 2. With this plant, the country will be able to benefit of a "contribution" in iodized salt, to fight against the irreversible health effects, of the lack of iodine in the diet. Ambassador of Canada in Jérémie Ms. Paula Caldwell St-Onge, Ambassador of Canada to Haiti, visits an horticultural project in Jeremie. During the visit, the Ambassador met with a group of women involved in the initiative. Canada supports development in the region of Jeremie through the construction of a new road to Les Cayes. Once completed, this road will open the Department of Grande-Anse to new economic opportunities. Haiti participates in the International Conference on Peacekeeping On Monday, two executives from the Ministry of Defence have left the country to represent Haiti at the International Conference of Peacekeeping organized by the Defense Network of Latin America and Safety (RESDAL), under the auspices of the Ministry Defense of Chile. After this Conference, which has the support of the Norwegian Agency for Development, the Secretary General of the Organization will announce the formation of a high-level group for in-depth analysis of the concept and arrangements to be adopted for a better involvement of the countries concerned. International Day of Human Rights Wednesday as part of the International Day of Human Rights, a ceremony will be held in the public square of the Croix-des-Bouquets, from 10:00 am on the theme: "365 jou dwa moun, chak jou konte !". Among other personalities expected at the ceremony, Réginald Clift Bazin, President of the Municipal Council of the city of Croix-des-Bouquets, the Protector of Citizens, Ms. Florence Elie and Giuseppe Calandruccio, Representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Haiti.
