Notably absent at the fifteenth Francophonie Summit
President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe have not participated in the fifteenth Francophonie Summit being held since Saturday in Dakar, Senegal. At the summit members of the OIF, officially designated today as Secretary General Michaëlle Jean. Safety and investments
On Wednesday, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Haitian-Canadian (CCIHC) under the patronage of the National Society of Industrial Parks (SONAPI), organized an important conversation breakfast on "Safety, an essential element for investments in Haiti". "The objective was to present the various efforts of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and the United Nations Police (UNPOL) in order to maintain a level of security favorable to investment," indicated Nathalie Pierre-Louis Laroche, President of CCIHC.

Training session for construction firms

Inauguration of a vocational school in Rivière Froide
The Vocational school Gallaghe Mark (named in memory of Sergeant Gallagher of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)) died during the earthquake of January 2010 was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Canada and members of the Gallagher family. Located in Rivière Froide (commune of Carrefour), the school will be administered by the Little Sisters of St. Therese and will host more than a hundred students, girls and boys in five programs: secretarial, agriculture, masonry, tiling and carpentry. This project of nearly $1.3 million has been financially supported by the Government of Canada and the generous donations of Canadians.
