No schools open in Petit-Goâve
Tuesday, no school, private or public, worked in Petit-Goâve. Students of the Lycée Faustin Soulouque took the street once again to demand the resumption of courses in classrooms and to support the striking teachers. The students, accompanied by teachers, were joined by college students of the city. They walked in the downtown chanting about hostile to the Head of State under the supervision of officers of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO) and the Motorized Intervention Brigade (BIM). The protesters forced the employees of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) and the Office of Social Affairs to close the doors of their institution. The demonstration ended without incident at the Lycée Faustin Soulouque where students have announced the continuation of their movement of demands throughout the week.

Slight increase of revenues for the DGI
Jean-Baptiste Clark Neptune, the Director of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) revealed that the DGI had collected for the first quarter of fiscal year 2013-2014, which ended in December 2013, an amount of 5,522.19 billion gourdes, slightly higher than the forecast (+2 millions Gourdes).

Construction of social housing
Last week, in the framework of Program of Support to the Intervention Plan in the Housing Sector (SPISH), a delegation from the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) want in the North East to visit the construction sites of social housing. Accompanied by representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), "Food for the Poor" and its subcontractor DKB as well as PHS and CEEPCO. Those responsible for the construction and the members of the delegation discussed the progress of work on the site of Terrier-Rouge. Launched since August 2013, this work will lead to the construction of 242 social housing units in Terrier Rouge, 184 in Ouanaminthe and 574 in Caracol. All these units will be built in strict compliance with the standards and will be powered by solar energy.

Monday, Ms. Dieudonne Luma Etienne, Regional Director north of Ministry of Tourism, accompanied by two officials from the Ministry, Gabard Dolciné and Mirlène Borgella, met Mr. Luc Thélus, the representative of the Ministry of Culture to the structure of Management of the National Historical Park (Citadelle, Ramiers, Sans Souci). On the agenda of discussion, a best strategy for the organization and improvement of tourist reception in the National Park.
