Seizure of contraband offshore
Friday afternoon, 16 people, 11 Haitians and 5 Jamaicans were arrested in Saint-Louis du Sud by the police authorities. According to Walman Cétoute, acting Departmental Director of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in the South, 2 yachts, materials and equipment such as batteries and communication radios were seized during a raid offshore in conjunction with the prosecution of the municipality of Aquin. Moreover, the authorities have seized several packages containing substances which could be drugs.

Closing days Consulate of Montreal
It is brought to the attention of the Haitian community and the general public, that the doors of the Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal will be closed on 24, 25, 26 and 31 December 2013 and 1 and 2 January 2014. Consular activities will resume January 3, 2014 at the usual times.

Working meeting with the World Bank and UNESCO
Wilson Laleau, Minister of Finance, Josette Darguste, acting Minister of Culture and Stéphanie Balmir Vlledrouin, the Minister of Tourism met Mary Barton Dock of the World Bank; Michaëlle Jean, UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, Ambassador Adama Ouane, UNESCO Representative in Haiti and Mickael Delandsheer of the Technical Implementation Unit (UTE). The discussions focused on two large-scale projects : a) The project "Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism" currently under preparation and who will be financed by the World Bank. b) A project to revitalize the neighborhood Shada (Pont Neuf area in Cap-Haitien), which is equally crucial for a better visibility of the entrance of the city. The ministers are engaged in a strategic approaches for the completion of these two projects in 2014.

End of Year Greetings ceremony
Friday at the National Palace, took place the End of Year Greetings ceremony of executives of the Haitian government and international partners, to the the President Michel Martelly. Vows of cooperation, collaboration, solidarity, prosperity, peace, love and light were made.

Closing days of the FOKAL
